![]() ![]() This article will focus on MikroTik - we will show you how you can do a network wide mass upgrade of RouterOS using Unimus, and the RouterOS Package Source feature. Cisco also recently had a bad ASA vulnerability ( info here), and just last year Ubiquiti had a massive exploit which brought down many networks around the world ( more details). Recently, MikroTik has had a series of severe vulnerabilities. However, it is absolutely necessary to keep the firmware/software of your networking equipment up to date. RouterOS will ask for upgrade confirmation, click on "yes".Let's face it - doing a network-wide roll-out of a new version of software for your switches or routers is painful and takes a LOT of time. ![]() Click on "Update" button (step 3 from the image).New window "Routerboard" will pop up, where you can see current and latest available firmware.Open Winbox and go to "System/Routerboard" menu (step 1 and 2 from image below).Next step after the RouterOS upgrade is firmware (bootloader) upgrade. If you clicked on "Download" button then you will need to reboot router manually to complete installation, but if "download&Upgrade" was clicked then router will reboot automatically after files are downloaded. Click on "Download" or "Download&Upgrade" button.Īfter download is complete you will see in status bar message that Download was successful.New window "Check For Updates" will open, where you will be able to see currently installed version and latest available version as well as latest available Changelog.Click on "Check for Updates" button (step 3 in the image) go to "System/Packages" menu (Step 1 and 2 from image below).Simply click “Check for updates” in QuickSet, Webfig or Winbox packages menu. ![]() You can do this from Winbox, console, Webfig or QuickSet. Just one click, and RouterOS will find the latest version, show you the changelog, and offer to upgrade. If you are already running RouterOS v6, upgrading to the latest version is simple. ![]()
